Blake views a building as a work of Impressionist art: countless components – which, on their own, may be unimpressive – fitted together and relying on one another to form a cohesive masterpiece. He is endlessly fascinated by this concept and feels lucky to be a part of that process as an engineer. He originally pursued structural engineering for its beautiful blend of complex mathematical theory and artful practicality.
Only after entering the workforce did Blake realize that his true passion for the profession is fueled by collaboration among engineers, architects, and contractors to find safe, beautiful, and economical solutions to design and construction challenges. In his opinion, a solution discovered in good company is far more rewarding than one found alone.
In summary, his passion for problem-solving is rooted in the joy of collaboration.
