Just up the street from the famous Muscle Beach in Venice, California this home’s structural system is proud to flex its muscles. Composed of wood, concrete, and steel elements, the structural elements of the home are expressed and celebrated in many locations throughout this two-story structure, and are tucked neatly away in others to allow for the installation of architectural components like recessed shade pockets, blind connections, and slider doors. Lund Opsahl collaborated closely with Olson Kundig on every aspect of the structural system to hold architectural intent paramount while delivering an efficient, cost-effective, and seismically sound framing assembly.
