Our Culture

From volunteering in our neighborhoods to actively seeking to increase diversity and opportunity in our profession, Lund Opsahl is serious about our role in contributing to the social and cultural health of our communities. We take charge of taking care of people—it’s as simple as that. We cultivate an environment that respects, honors, and rewards our employees, and we prioritize giving back to our communities right here in the Northwest—because this is our home too.

How We Build Community

We Care

We care for our people through wellness initiatives, inclusive practices, and celebrations that foster a strong sense of community. These efforts are reflected in our commitment to the JUST 3.0 Label, a framework that recognizes organizations for fairness, equity, and employee well-being. That same dedication guides how we approach our work—with integrity, equity, and a focus on creating meaningful benefits for the people and places our projects touch.

We Connect

We build strong relationships—within our team, with our clients, and in our communities. From team lunches and happy hours to volunteer work and mentoring programs, we foster connections that create belonging and strengthen collaboration. This commitment carries into our work, where we deliver projects that make a lasting impact on the growth and transformation of the cities we serve, especially in the transit and civic engagement sectors.

We Grow

We invest in professional development and mentorship because we are committed to supporting our people as they grow their careers and make meaningful contributions. This investment not only strengthens Lund Opsahl’s legacy and reputation but also empowers our employees to thrive and leave their own mark on the communities that they support.

Our Just 3.0 Label marks the next step in our ongoing commitment to transparency, equity, and accountability. The JUST 3.0 Program is a social justice transparency platform developed by the International Living Future Institute. The Just application process asked us to pause, reflect, and measure our policies and practices with honesty. Our label establishes a baseline, helping us see more clearly how we can align our workplace practices with our values, both in the short term and over time.

FUN Committee

Our FUN Committee brings people together through monthly happy hours, quarterly outings like mini golf and skiing, and our much-anticipated summer and holiday parties. These moments of fun remind us not to take ourselves too seriously. They help us build real relationships, so we work better together when it counts.

Wellness Committee

Our Wellness Committee makes sure we’re looking out for each other and the wider community. From in-office yoga, 5ks, and monthly volunteering opportunities to sharing mental health resources and fostering a safe, supportive workplace, these initiatives help us take care of the whole person.

Standards Committee

The Standards Committee ensures our design tools and standard details are accurate, efficient, and code-compliant, by regularly updating our libraries based on lessons learned and close collaboration with builders and consultants. With voices from all experience levels, the committee is a space where fresh ideas meet technical know-how, and where we’re always improving, together.

ACE Mentor Program

The ACE Mentor Program connects industry professionals with high school students across the nation to help educate the younger generations in architecture, engineering, and construction. Mentors from LO’s team have volunteered with ACE for over three years and look forward to learning from students as much as teaching them.

Benefits

We build care it into our policies. With 100% paid for healthcare, paid parental leave, and a strong commitment to pay equity and transparency, our benefits reflect the values we live by.

Professional Growth

We invest in each other’s growth — because when one of us levels up, we all do. That means covering the cost of licensing exams and study materials, professional memberships, and conferences so our team can keep learning, sharing, and pushing the work forward.
